Facial Fat Grafting

Do you want to have a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance? Facial Fat Grafting restores volume to the face to help reverse the signs of ageing.
As we naturally age, our face begins to lose volume and the skin can start to droop. This is especially apparent in the cheeks, which can often look sunken. This can make you appear older than you really are. To turn back the clock and have a youthful appearance once more, you may wish to undergo facial fat grafting.
Facial fat grafting involves using your own fat from a donor area – such as thighs, stomach, or hips. This is then treated and transferred into the face to transform your image. This will increase fat in certain areas of the face, making you look years younger.
This is a desirable option for women and men who wish to look younger but do not want to resort to unnatural substances, such as what is used in anti-ageing injectables and dermal fillers.
Facial fat grafting is a minimally invasive technique which uses your own fat to produce natural-looking results. You will be able to leave the same day looking years younger.
There are numerous advantages to undergoing facial fat grafting, including:
– No scars
– Can achieve natural-looking results
– Performed under a local anaesthetic
– No lengthy downtime following the procedure
– Facial fat grafting is a day procedure, so you will not have to stay overnight

Candidates

You may consider fat facial grafting if you have:
– A gaunt face
– Flatness in the face
– A chubby face
– Asymmetry of the face
– Gaunt or sunken eyes
To be a suitable candidate for this procedure, you will need to be at least 18 years old.
You will need to be a non-smoker, or be able to stop smoking prior to the procedure and during the recovery period.
Your surgeon will be able to assess your face to determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate.

Surgery

At London Lipo Institute, we use tumescent liposuction for facial fat grafting. Tumescent liposuction involves injecting the donor area with a diluted solution, which makes the area swell and go hard, which is otherwise known as tumescent. This makes it easier for the surgeon to remove the fat.
Facial fat grafting will be performed under a local anaesthetic. This means you will be awake throughout the procedure, however, you will not be able to feel any pain or discomfort.
The procedure involves three steps:
Removal of the fat: tumescent liposuction is used to remove fat from a donor area, such as the back, thighs, abdomen or hips.
Treatment: the removed fat is then treated and purified.
Injections: the removed and purified fat is then injected into the areas of the face such as cheekbones, lips, mid-face, chin and jawline.

Facial fat grafting not only allows you to have a more voluptuous face, but the donor area will also appear thinner and more defined.

Recovery

After facial fat grafting, it is normal to experience some bruising and swelling, particularly where the liposuction took place and on the face. This is completely normal and will reduce after about two weeks. You may experience some pain and/or discomfort. You will be given pain medication to help alleviate any symptoms.

You will need to take about three to five days off work, although some people may feel the need to take a longer period of time off.
It is important that you avoid any vigorous physical activity for four weeks, including any heavy lifting. You will need to consider this when returning to work.
