Facial Fillers

Do you want to have a more youthful appearance? Do you want to look like you’ve turned back the clock, and erased wrinkles and lines? You may want to consider facial fillers.
What are facial fillers?

Facial fillers work to fill in lines and wrinkles in the face. The filler is added to areas of the face which have lost volume and cause us to look older. Filling in thinner areas and wrinkles helps you to have a more youthful appearance.
At London Lipo Institute, our available fillers are Hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers, such as Teosyal, Juvederm, and Restylane. This is a natural substance which is found in the human skin. This substance attracts water molecules, which helps to maintain volume.

Candidates

To have facial fillers, you will need to be:
– 18 years or older
– Be in good physical and mental health
– Have realistic expectations about what the fillers can achieve

While there is no maximum age limit for this procedure, it is important to note younger patients may experience better results than those who are older due to factors such as skin laxity.

Those who may want facial fillers are those who have:

– Smile lines
– A lack of volume in the lips
– Cheeks that have wrinkles or have lost volume due to ageing
– Crow’s feet
– Frown lines
– Drooping or sagging skin
– A chin that needs extra definition

Surgery

Facial fillers are a non-surgical procedure. While there are no precautions you need to take prior to getting fillers, it is recommended that you stop smoking at least two weeks prior to having fillers. This will allow you to have an ideal outcome.

You may be given an anaesthetic to help you avoid feeling any discomfort. Fine needles will be used to inject the filler into the desired areas of the face. How much filler and how many injections are required will vary from person to person. Once the filler has been injected, the area will be gently massaged. The whole process will take between 20 to 60 minutes, depending on how many areas are being treated.

Recovery

As this is a non-surgical procedure, there is minimal downtime. For the first 24 hours after surgery, you will need to avoid any strenuous physical activity. Your skin may also be more sensitive, so you will need to avoid excess sun exposure. You should also avoid consuming any alcohol, coffee and hot drinks for the first 24 hours. This can help to minimise any side effects such as redness, swelling or itching. If you do experience any swelling, it can be treated with the application of ice packs.
