Lip Augmentation

Are you unhappy with the shape and size of your lips? Do you want fuller, plumper, more youthful looking lips? You can achieve this look with lip augmentation.

What is lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a non-surgical way to enhance the look of your lips. At London Lipo Institute, we use dermal fillers to increase the size of your lips. The lips are plumped by injecting Hyaluronic Acid Fillers into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which is found in the body and works to add volume to the lips. As it is a natural substance, once injected, it is absorbed and broken down by the body. Therefore, you can expect results to last about six to nine months. After this time period, more injections are required if you want to maintain the larger volume of your lips.

There are many advantages to using hyaluronic acid, including:

– Less bruising
– Surgeons are able to easily control how much is injected
– Injections can be given gradually, so volume can slowly be increased
– Lumps and bumps can easily be dissolved

What are the benefits of lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation not only gives you the lips that you desire, but there are also numerous other benefits as well. These include:

– Softening vertical lines around the edge of the lips
– Lifting the edges of the lips, making your lips point upward and appear more youthful
– Creating a more defined Cupid’s bow

Candidates

To have lip augmentation at London Lipo Institute, you will need to:

– Be 18 years or older
– Have realistic expectations about what the lip augmentation can achieve
– Be a non-smoker or stop smoking at least two weeks before the enhancement

Those who choose to have lip augmentation generally:

– Have naturally thin lips
– Have lost volume in the lips as the result of ageing
– Wish to balance out the features of the face with fuller lips
– Feel self-conscious or have low self-esteem because of the thin lips

Surgery

As lip augmentation is a non-surgical procedure, it is relatively quick and straightforward. It takes about 20 minutes to complete. First, the area will be numbed using a small ice pack. This helps to numb the nerves and make the injections more comfortable. If need be, you can also have an anaesthetic cream applied or local anaesthetic injected to have a completely pain-free experience.

The injections will be done using small, fine needles which are injected directly into the lips.

Recovery

As this is a non-surgical procedure, there is little to no recovery time.

You may need to apply an ice pack to your lips for 10 minutes following the injections.

It is normal to experience some bruising and swelling, which generally resolves two days after the injections.

You will be able to return to work directly after having the injections.

- Have thin or uneven lips that you are wanting to increase the volume of.

Who should not have lip augmentation?

What are the side effects of lip fillers?

Side effects include:

- Discolouration

These will generally fade after one to two days.

What can I expect on the day?

Lip augmentation requires little preparation nor downtime. Your lips will be numbed with ice, numbing cream or a local anaesthetic injection. The filler will then slowly be injected until the lips are at the requested volume. You may be given ice to apply to the lips after the injections are completed. The whole procedure should take around 20 minutes to complete.

Will the injections hurt?

While the thought of getting injections into your lips can be a bit daunting, at London Lipo Institute we ensure we use anaesthetic creams which mean your lips will be numb and you will not experience pain from the needle injections. If need be, we can inject a local anaesthetic, so the lips and surrounding areas will be completely numb.

Will my lips be swollen?

It is normal to experience some swelling after lip augmentation. This swelling is minimal and not very noticeable. This will affect the results, as you will notice your lips will appear smaller after the swelling subsides.

How long do the lip fillers last?

The Hyaluronic Acid Lip Fillers generally last from six to nine months. This will vary from each patient and will depend on how much filler was injected. To maintain results, we recommend having injections every six months.
