Tumescent Liposuction Recovery
Why is Tumescent Liposuction Recovery important?
Firstly, let us talk about the term ‘tumescent liposuction’. Tumescent Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that helps remove excess fat located in the stomach area, the process is also referred to as ‘Tickle Lipo’. The procedure is performed by the patient being put under local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation. A few small incisions are made in the area to be performed on, which in this case is the stomach. Diluted local anaesthesia is then inserted to ensure minimisation of blood and trauma. Then the cannula device, which is a thin hollow tube is inserted into the incisions to be loosened using the lipomatic technique of vibration to break down the fat. With the lipomatic technique, the fat is then able to be suctioned out, the procedure may take between 1-3 hours depending on the amount of fat required to be removed.

In the Tumescent Liposuction recovery, there may be bruising and swelling due to the procedure. Discomfort may also be an issue after the procedure, however, painkilling medication will be provided by your surgeon to aid in the Tumescent Liposuction Recovery. It is very much recommended to wear tight compression garments or elastic bandages to help reduce the swelling as well as being able to help from the skin into an appealing contour and may as well be worn for several weeks. Depending on the amount of liposuction from the tumescent area, it is possible to return to work 2-3 days after the operation. However, if intense liposuction with a lot of fat being removed, a week off work may be recommended. Swelling may be there but can be reduced at 7-10 days. Exercise of a minimal standard is permitted after 2 weeks, but full activity can be after 4-6 weeks. For Tumescent Liposuction recovery, the swelling will continue to reduce after the operation but could take up to 3-5 months before it goes.
